Few weeks back Congress leader Rahul Gandhi faced embarrassing situation during a party gathering at London . It was a well planned event to take on board the foreign based Indian nationals to revive the political legacy of Indian National Congress . Every thing was going well as per the plans till the time a group of Sikh audience stood up in protest mode and raised slogans for freedom of Khalistan , just moments before the start of Rahul Gandhi’s address. This unexpected protest specially slogans for freedom of Khalistan once again unearthed the deep buried bitter reality that political legacy of Congress does not only comprise of pleasant set of achievements . It does have shrouded and least talked about dark parts too. Sikh’ persecution in India, specially the deep rooted retaliatory response to ‘Operation Blue Star’ under Congress era, still haunts the India as well as the political heirs of Gandhi family . Indian forces desecrated the ‘Golden Temple’ and mercilessly killed many innocent Sikhs in the name of state’ security . Desecration of holy temple and state sponsored persecution ignited the sentiments of Sikh community . An unusually heavy and equally unexpected response surfaced with in few weeks of operation Blue Star in the form of Indira Gandhi’s assassination by none other than two of her personal body guards . Both assassins openly confessed that they took the revenge of Golden Temple’s desecration which took place on the orders of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi . This high profile assassination resulted in outbreak of the one of the worst riots against Sikhs. Well planned killings, rapes, extra judicial apprehensions and destruction of properties were being faced by the Sikhs as usual part of Indian riots .As an outcome of such devastating state sponsored violence , a large number of victim Sikh families had to leave India with heavy hearts forever . Extremist Hindu mindset plays dirty game of violence against all minorities without any discrimination . Though , the poor Muslims had always been at the top of extremists’ target list in India but other minorities too had their share of extra venomous pie. Call for freedom of Khalistan is not a new phenomenon in east Punjab ! Soon after the 1947 partition Sikhs realized that decision of joining Indian federation was a great mistake by their leaders . No religious entity can peacefully survive with prejudiced Hindu mindset which carries centuries old values based on inhuman system of inequalities . Discrimination among humans over class , creed , religion and territorial affiliations has remained a hallmark of Hindu culture and it nourishes under the strong shelter of religious orthodoxy. Sikh demands for freedom got significant acceptance in public during early 80s . As usual Indian decision making quarters avoided political engagement with the unhappy quarters and opted to deal the problem with brutal use of force . Outcome was nothing short of absolute destruction of the normal political order and social dynamics specially in east Punjab .Operation Blue Star , Indira Gandhi’s assassination ,anti Sikh riots and subsequent migration of victim families is just the bitter outcome of prejudiced extremist Hindu mindset and state sponsored violence against own citizens . While discussing this heinous Indian hobby , how one can forget the blood soaked story of Occupied Kashmir ! A justified demand for freedom by Kashmiri masses was returned with decades long state sponsored military operation where law holds no value in the eyes of security forces . Human lives can be traded to conquer the territory and the jubilation of success always offers multiplying effects because the victims are all the Muslims . Now , the Sikhs are also being bracketed with Pakistan and the Muslims of Kashmir! Obviously , this dangerously rising phenomenon would add more lethality in state sponsored violence against the Sikhs .Ultra extremist Hindu mindset rapidly spreading all over the India under Modi led BJP’ rule apparently seems in no mood to stop acceleration on path of absolute destruction . This indigenous extremist crisis of India has ignited the separatist movements in Kashmir and East Punjab . No special description required about ongoing historic freedom movement in occupied Kashmir ! Recent demands for separate independent Sikh state and conduct of referendum to seek public opinion for creation of Khalistan in year 2020 are rapidly gaining popularity in Sikh diaspora all over the world .
