LAHORE, September 14: The funeral prayer of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz Sharif was offered at the Sharif Medical City at Raiwind in Lahore on Friday. Later on her dead body was laid to rest next to the grave of her father-in-law, Mian Muhammad Sharif at Jati Umra.
The funeral prayer was lead by prominent religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil. Thousands of people attended the funeral prayer of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. Former prime minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Muhammad Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar, Salman Shahbaz Sharif, Junaid Safdar and other members of the Sharif family attended the funeral prayer of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz Sharif.
Senate Chairman Mir Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani also attended the funeral prayer.

Ameer Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith Professor Senator Sajid Mir also attended the funeral prayer.
PTI was represented by a delegation headed by Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and comprising Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, Deputy Speaker NA Qasim Khan Suri, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan and others.
Pakistan People’s Party delegation comprising former prime ministers Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Raja Parvez Ashraf, MNA Syed Naveed Qamar, Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Chaudhry Qamar Zaman Kaira, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Azizur Rehman Chan and Hassan Murtaza attended the funeral prayer.
Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, Chaudhry Salik Hussain and other leaders of the PML-Q also attended the funeral prayer.
Pashtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai lead the delegation of his party in the funeral prayer. National Party Chief Senator Mir Hasil Khan Bizinjo also attended the funeral prayer.
MQM-Pakistan delegation headed by its Convener and Federal Minister for Information Technology Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui attended the funeral prayer. Dr Farooq Sattar, Aminul Haq, Senator Atique Sheikh and other leaders were also attended the funeral prayer.
Senior journalist Hamid Mir, ANP leaders Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, Haji Ghulam Ahmed Billour, former senator Shahi Syed and former MNA Jamshed Khan Dasti also attended the funeral prayer.
A delegation of Jamaat ud Dawa (JuD) participated in the funeral prayer of Begum Kalsum Nawaz. Spokesperson JuD Muhammad Yahya Mujahid and others attended the funeral procession. JuD leaders expressed deep sorrow over the death of Begum Kalsum Nawaz. They prayed for her and said, “May Allah give strength and forbearance to the family members.”
Strict security arrangements were made on the occasion of the funeral prayer of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.
Kulsoom Nawaz breathed her last on Tuesday after a protracted battle with cancer in London. Her brother-in-law Shahbaz Sharif, daughter Asma Dar, Zakariya Hussain Sharif, Haleema Dar, Usman Dar, Asif
Baig Mirza, Khadija Mirza, Saira Saleh, Ijaz Gull, Samia Tariq, Nargis Butt and other Sharif family members accompanied the body from London to Lahore on a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight.
A PIA flight carrying the casket had landed at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore at 6:40am on Friday from where it was shifted to Sharif Medical Comlex, Jati Umra amid strict security.
Kulsoom’s nephews Hamza Shahbaz, Salman Shahbaz, Yousaf Abbas, Aziz Abbas and Ata Tarar were present at the airport to receive the coffin.
A special immigration counter was set up at the Hajj Terminal of the airport in order to facilitate the early clearance of all those who arrived with her body.-Sabah
