Zardari will be well advised to stay away from becoming a part of a grand alliance of the opposition parties aimed at destabilising the PTI government by tabling a no-confidence motion in the national assembly as it would do more harm than good to democracy in the country . At this point in time the country needs political stability. The government also needs sufficient time to translate into reality its electoral promises and no sane person in the country likes political unrest right now. It seems that the PPP co-chairperson has read the writing on the wall. Now that he is in trouble he fears that he might be arrested soon in some mega corruption cases and in his own wisdom he thinks that by jumping on the bandwagon of Sharif brothers and also persuading all those politicians who were shown the door by the electorate in the last election to form a united political front he can build up political pressure on the investigating agencies probing corruption cases against him for letting him off the hook. Whether or not he succeeds in his mission is too early to tell but there is no gainsaying the fact that those politicians and bureaucrats who have indulged in massive corruption in cahoots with one another during the past couple of years are having sleepless nights at the moment.
Meanwhile the PTI chairman must smell the coffee. In his own ranks there are some political leaders who have a lot to live down. Some of them speak too much and every time they open their mouth they put their foot into it. Imran Khan must give a stern warning to them to behave and if that failed to work then , of course, there will be no option left with him but to give them a wide berth.
