ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government has appointed Aamir Zulfiqar as the Islamabad Inspector General Police (IGP).
Zulfiqar is an officer of the Police Service Pakistan (PSP) group and has served as IG Motorway Police.
His other postings including IG Operations Punjab, DIG Operations Punjab, DIG CTD Punjab, RPO Multan, CPO Multan, SSP Special Branch Lahore, SSP Operations Lahore among other designations. Earlier, the Supreme Court suspended an order transferring IGP Islamabad Jan Muhammad. The apex court was hearing the case pertaining to the transfer after it was reported that Muhammad had been removed after he allegedly refused to take action on a complaint by Federal Minister Azam Swati’s son.
Jan Muhammad who had resumed charge as the IGP a day earlier, appeared before the Supreme Court and excused himself from performing his duties.-Agencies
