ISLAMABAD, December 11: Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua has termed the militant Islamic State group’s presence in Afghanistan as a constant threat to the country, sources reported on Tuesday.
Addressing a ceremony at the Institute of Policy Research, Islamabad the foreign secretary stated that the country and the region at large face serious challenges and resolving the Afghanistan issue is key to long-lasting peace.
“Regional and global powers also realise the need to find a solution to the problem in Afghanistan,” said Janjua, adding that Pakistan supports all negotiations and dialogue between the Afghan government and the Afghan Taliban.
The foreign secretary further said that Pakistan is in contact with all major powers and termed relations between Pakistan and China as ‘exemplary,’ adding that China is a country with which Pakistan talks on all issues.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit has given a new direction to the bilateral relations between the two countries,” the foreign secretary stated. – PR
