U.S Envoy assures Dar of enhancing trade volume with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, December 18: Minister for Finance Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has emphasized that the present government, having achieved the objectives of macroeconomic stability, was now fully focused on growth and job creation. Dar stated this while talking to newly appointed US Ambassador to Pakistan, David M Hale who called on the Finance Minister here.
Hale apprised the Finance Minister of his efforts to promote deep economic and trade relations between the two countries.The ambassador stated that it was his objective to increase the volume of bilateral trade as well as bring in further US investment to Pakistan.
He sought the finance minister’s support for these mutually beneficial efforts. The minister welcomed the keen interest of the US Ambassador in promoting investment in Pakistan and assured him of full cooperation of government of Pakistan. The government, Dar said that had introduced investor friendly policies and foreign investors would be provided maximum facilitation, as they can play an important role in achieving the objective of economic growth. He referred to the investment opportunities in the energy, water conservation, transport and agriculture sectors. The US envoy stated that the economic achievements of the government in the last two years were widely acknowledged and would help in attracting foreign investment to Pakistan. Senior officials of the ministry of finance also attended the meeting.
