The common perception is that many banned sectarian religious parties are still active in various parts of the country and stern action under the National Action Plan against them has not been taken as yet. There is a point in the argument that the rulers, for the reasons best known to them, are quite soft on those religious chieftains who continue to fan sectarianism in the country. The lunatic fringe among the various religious parties deserve no leniency as they are more dangerous than the persons who wear suicide jackets and explode themselves among the public. The Lal Masjid located right near the heart of the federal capital is a case in point. Why the hell is the government so scared of the religious bigwigs running this mosque who have never rued or regretted their past deeds and who refuse to condemn the activities of terrorist organisations like the Daish for whom they have a soft corner in their heart?
The Interior minister deserves credit for informing the National Assembly the achievements of his ministry during the past two and a half year that the present government has been in power. He was quite frank when he accepted some failures of his ministry and pinpointed the areas in which the desired results could not be achieved. One would have wished other federal ministers to take a leaf out of his book and also place the successes and failures of their ministries on the floor of the House.Half of the constitutional term of the present government in office is almost over and the people must know the plus and the minus points of those who have been moving in the corridors of power during this period.
