Indian Air Force’s much-anticipated press conference failed to present, what they called, irrefutable evidence to challenge Foreign Policy’s story on Pakistan’s F-16 fleet. IAF officials said they did have the evidence but cannot share with the people, expecting of them to believe IAF story. “The IAF has irrefutable evidence of not only the fact that the F-16 was used by Pakistan Air Force on February 27, 2019 but also that IAF MIG 21 Bison shot down the F-16,” Air Force Vice-Marshal RGK Kapoor said at a press conference as quoted by the ‘Times Now’. Thus, press conference was less about providing evidence and more about fighting the war of narratives. India released radar image of Pakistani F-16 downing. But very soon India will be exposed about release of so-called radar image of Pakistani F-16 downing, as IAF took more than six weeks to fabricate, manipulate and concoct the image.
A leading international magazine Foreign Policy rejected Indian claim of downing Pakistan F-16 during a brief battle in February. Two senior U.S. defense officials with direct knowledge of the situation told US Magazine Foreign Policy that U.S. personnel recently counted F-16s in Pakistan and found none missing. The Magazine said, India has once again misled the world through baseless and false claims. The findings directly contradict the account of Indian Air Force officials, who said Indian air force shot down a Pakistani F-16. One of the senior U.S. defense officials said that Pakistan invited the United States to physically count its F-16 planes after the incident as part of an end-user agreement signed when the foreign military sale was finalized. However, the defense official dismissing Indian point of view said the agreement did not involve any terms limiting the use of the F-16s.
The fact remains that the Pentagon and the Department of Defence never categorically refuted FP’s claim, which meant that India did not score the hit. Moreover, the articles published in major policy and news outlets indicate that the establishment is not endorsing PM Narendra modi and his claims. Pakistan’s ISPR has recently claimed that it has truth on this and India’s claim of scoring hit to share. It is time that ISPR shares some hard evidence anytime soon to decimate India’s data on paper to cause her further embarrassment. So far India has been trying to cover its lies and embarrassment caused in India and elsewhere, as even in India questions are being asked and PM Narendra Modi is being criticized left, right and centre for his shenanigans in an effort to win elections. The more he tells lies, the more he stands exposed.
