BEIJING, April 28: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday vowed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led federal government would ensure implementation of effective measures to facilitate investors in Pakistan.
He addressed and pledged that Pakistan government would eradicate all hurdles which resist foreign investors from investing in Pakistan.
Specifically, he praised Chinese investors for having foresight in terms of investment by stating that they were well aware of in which country to invest.
PM Khan has emphasised that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has transformed into a strategic partnership between Pakistan and China and encompasses more areas of cooperation. Addressing Pakistan and China Investment Forum in Beijing on Sunday, he said CPEC that was considered a network of roads and a few power projects has now blossomed into various areas of cooperation today. He said a new area of that cooperation is agriculture that is backbone of our country.
He said Chinese help in seed development and agriculture development will help increase our agricultural productivity manifold. It will also increase growth trajectory in order to improve the lifestyle of our people.
Imran Khan said in today’s meetings with Chinese President and Premier, the issue of Chinese assistance in Science and Technology to Pakistan also came into discussion. He said we want to learn from Chinese expertise in information technology and other areas. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan held meetings with China’s top leadership in Beijing on Sunday morning.
The premier and the visiting Pakistani delegation met President Xi Jinping in the Great Hall of the People in the Chinese capital. The two sides engaged in delegation-level talks. PM Imran was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Adviser on Finance Hafeez Shaikh, Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood, Minister for Planning Khusro Bakhtiar, Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda, and Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan among others.
Reaffirming the ‘All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership’ between Pakistan and China, the two leaders exchanged views on the entire gamut of bilateral relations.
They affirmed the resolve to further strengthen their strategic cooperative partnership in all fields including political, security, economic and trade, and people-to-people exchanges.
President Xi also reiterated China’s unwavering support to Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and appreciated the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government’s agenda for socio-economic development and people-centered progress.
He asserted that China-Pakistan ties would continue to acquire greater strength and practical cooperation would be increased over time.
Pakistan and China on Sunday signed six agreements including the Second Phase of the Pakistan-China Free Trade Agreement, in Beijing, officials said.
Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang witnessed the signing ceremony after their talks, a statement said.
The MoUs and agreements signed include second phase of China Pakistan Free Trade Agreement, Declaration for Completion of Preliminary Design of Phase-I for Up-gradation of ML-1 and Establishment of Havelian Dry Port under CPEC, MoU on Cooperation in the field of Marine Sciences between the China Geological Survey (CGS), Ministry of Natural Resources of China, the Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Science and Technology, MoU between CIDCA and Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform on Implementation of the Projects under JWG of CPEC on Socio-Economic Development, China-Pakistan Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement and Rashakai SEZ Joint Venture and License Agreement between KPEZMDC and CRBC.-Agencies
