Release of Media Houses Dues Before ISLAMABAD, May 16: Kuninori Matsuda, Ambassador of Japan called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Japanese Ambassador discussed areas of bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Japan.
The Prime Minister appreciated Japan’s role as Pakistan’s key development partner over the years and highlighted the areas of investment, human resource development, information technology, tourism and agriculture to further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.
The Prime Minister underscored that his government is determined to overcome the current economic challenges through peace oriented, investment friendly, development focused and people centered strategies. Pakistan is ready to welcome Japanese businesses in all the sectors of economy.
The two sides expressed satisfaction over the upward trajectory in bilateral relations between Pakistan and Japan. The Japanese Ambassador assured his government’s full support to enhance bilateral relations with Pakistan.
Later, Prime Minister Imran Khan directed Ministry of Information to hold immediate consultations with PBA and APNS regarding payment of outstanding dues.
According to details, the decision was made during a high-level meeting in Islamabad in which detailed deliberations were held on outstanding dues and payments of print and electronic media.
PM Khan directed the Ministry to take practical steps for the release of outstanding amounts to media persons before Eid. In this regard, the Prime Minister asked the Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan to personally supervise the process.
The Prime Minister said the government firmly believes in the constitutional and basic right of freedom of expression.-DNA/Agencies
