ISLAMABAD: The opposition parties on Sunday have decided to hold an All Parties Conference (APC) after Eid in a major huddle hosted by the Pakistan Peoples Party in the federal capital to formulate a strategy against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.
The APC will be convened by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman to discuss opposition’s future course of action in regards to putting up a front against the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government.
“We will record protest inside and outside parliament after Eid,” said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in a press conference after the high-level huddle held at the Zardari House. The PPP supremo said that every single political party will also hold separate protests against the disastrous policies adopted by the incumbent government.
Speaking after Bilawal, the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the APC will be called in a bid to reach a consensus over shared cause and course of action.
The former prime minister and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz stalwart Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the opposition believes that the government has failed to deliver. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shehbaz are also attending the meeting
“We didn’t talk about the ongoing self-proclaimed accountability. We will face it,” he said. “The government has failed to resolve public issues. The people have lost all hopes.”
Among other leaders attending the Iftar dinner were Aftab Sherpao, Liaquat Baloch, PTM leaders and Shah Awais Noorani. Akhtar Mengal, Mahmood Khan Achazkzai and Asfandyar Wali Khan excused from attending the meeting due to prior personal commitments.-Agencies
