Isn’t it shocking to note that the CDA hasn’t evolved any proper system to dispose off about 600 metric ton of solid waste that is generated in Islamabad daily? More than 50 years have lapsed since the creation of the new federal capital of this country but the CDA has not been able to find out a proper place nor evolve a mechanism for the disposal of Federal capital’s solid waste which is being dumped in an empty place in 1-12 sector as a makeshift arrangement since long. Small wonder that the nearby area where garbage is dumped temporarily stands utterly polluted.
It goes without saying that those in the CDA who are responsible to look after the sanitation requirements of the federal capital have failed miserably to discharge their duties efficiently . One would have thought that the Sanitation conditions of the federal capital would be better than than the sanitation conditions of old cities of the country but it is sad to note that there isn’t much difference among them. If the poor sanitation condition of Islamabad wasn’t improved it would become another Karachi before long.
The federal capital houses foreign ambassadors, supreme court and high court judges, parliamentarians , the PM and the President etc etc . In other words, all the top- notchers reside here but nobody is least bothered to raise a hue and cry over the absence of a permanent landfill .
The condition of 20 mullahs of federal capital too is also pitiable. All of them are contaminated. Many people are disposing off their sewage into them thus making them highly polluted.
