Had the PM appointed the Probe Commission soon after he took over the reins of his office, the nation would have by now known where and how the foreign loans taken by our rulers during the past one or two decades were sent?Precious nine months were , therefore, wasted in the matter. Anyhow, better late than never. It is the right of this poor nation that it must know the names of their rulers who played duck and drakes with the national kitty and were responsible for their abject poverty.
The reaction of some of the opposition leaders to the appointment of this Commission is but natural. Those of them who have been ruling this country, turn by turn, under an unholy political alliance and who were the main beneficiaries of these foreign loans know in their heart of hearts that if the said Commission dug deep into the matter many sacred cows are likely to be exposed and they would find no place to hide their ugly faces. Small wonder they are ganging up against the government in their bid to make it difficult for it to run the country peacefully .
There is a helluva difference between a parliament and a fish market. If some parliamentarians want to flex their muscles and use fisticuffs they had better indulge in these acts of vandalism outside its precinct instead of sabre rattling inside the four walls of parliament and thus making themselves a laughing stock of the world. Moreover, by raising hullabaloo in parliament they are sending a wrong signal to the youth of this country. Democracy means tolerance and listening to each other’s views without losing temper.
