ISLAMABAD, July 11: Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday said that the wrong policies of the previous governments have ruined the country’s economy.
Addressing a seminar on the 62nd death anniversary of Sir Sultan Muhammad Shah Aga Khan III in Islamabad on Thursday, she said that national institutions had been used by the previous regimes, adding that the institutions had been weakened by making democracy a shield for their personal interests.
Dr Firdous said Prime Minister Imran Khan is taking tough decisions like institutional reforms and breaking the status quo in the country, adding that the PTI government has been making sincere efforts
for rebuilding the damaged institutions. The special assistant went on to say that parliament is a very important pillar of state, adding that some political pundits want to run the senate according to their wishes. Awan further said: “No confidence motion move by the opposition parties against Chairman Senate has raised serious questions in the minds of ordinary people about the designs of these parties. She said government will protect the national institutions from onslaught of opposition.” Regarding Prime Minister Imran Khan’s upcoming visit to the US, she said this will help strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries, adding that it is first time that peace loving efforts of Pakistan have been recognized by the US. The special assistant said the international standing of the country has improved due to its visionary leadership of PM Imran Khan and foreign policy. She said the visit will also improve the standing of Pakistan s passport in the world.-Agencies
