What did the result of the recent election in the former FATA convey? It conveyed more than anything anything else the fact that the tribesmen fancy contesting elections as an independent candidate and then join the ruling party thus scooping fat monetary and political benefits from the rulers in lieu of selling their political loyalties to them. These elections also proved that the tribesmen , by and large, don’t see eye to eye with the ultra -nationalists, the religious bigots, those believing in linguistic jingoism as well as those dancing to the tune of their paymasters sitting in Kabul and New Delhi.
The leadership of the ANP, the PPP, the PML (N) and both factions of the JUI as well as the JI must be licking their wounds as they were roundly beaten at the Polls either by the Independents or the PTI. These elections did provide the proof, if any proof was required about the political farsightedness and acumen of the tribesmen of the former FATA. They have once again proved their fealty to the state.
A majority of those who won these polls must have joined the PTI when these lines would see the light of the day or they would be getting ready to jump on its bandwagon sooner than later as it is customary on the part of those who win elections in this country in their individual capacity as independent candidate to join the ruling party, more often than not.
