An orchestrated campaign is going on in the social media, and disinformation is being spread by detractors of Pakistan. Such information disseminated via various social media networks is that such data generally lacks authenticity, and in most cases there is hardly any evidence or a reliable source that can be used to corroborate information. Ayesha Siddiqa, while reviewing Shuja Nawaz’s book on Pakistan Army, “Crossed Swords”, in Newsline magazine in August 2008, had stated: “In fact, he (Gohar Ayub) completely ignores the information that Ayub Khan had received a bad ACR from his bosses prior to the partition of India and had become a general through machination”, which is travesty of the truth. Earlier, Gohar Ayub, in his book had denied that the British gave Ayub Khan a horrible ACR for timidity and refusal to participate in combat in Burma in World War II.”
One among the many unconfirmed stories proliferated on social media these days is that “prior to his death, Quaid-i-Azam had reprimanded Brigadier Muhammad Ayub Khan, which was in the Quaid-i-Azam’s own handwriting and is still preserved in the Cabinet Division’s archives; that Ayub Khan’s military career was not particularly brilliant and although he had not previously held a combat command, he was promoted over several senior officers with distinguished careers. Ayub Khan had received a bad ACR (Annual Confidential Report) from his bosses prior to the partition of India and had become a general through machination”. The fact of the matter is that the above reprimand written in the handwriting of the Quaid does not exist. If there was such a reprimand, nobody would have dared to give promotions to Ayub Khan; thus the story of bad ACR was also concocted.
Anyway, during Ayubian era, Pakistan had achieved around 6 per cent economic growth during his 11years rule, which was more than any other country in Asia. He had also laid a solid foundation for strengthening the armed forces. Today, Pakistan army has turned out to be a battle hardened army. The unbelievable achievements of Pak army are a rare example in military history, where any army with the help of people, not only defeated terrorism but also threw them out of their country, which is not acceptable to our enemies. Pak army in 2019 vis-à-vis 1971 is more respected and loved by the people of Pakistan, which is evident through pages created at social media and the way patriotic Pakistanis take on the anti-Pakistan elements on social media. Incidentally, Pakistani liberals are the least tolerant people one can come across.
Once, there used to be a liberal woman (late Asma Jahangir) who saved hundreds of such terrorists (ultra-conservatives) from military courts. Their SOPs might be different; one group uses guns and other spews venom in social media and news outlets; however their ultimate goal is same. We see many of them on foreign media especially Indian media calling for disintegration of Pakistan, ISI and Pak Army. Manzoor Pashteen, Mohsin Dawar, Ali Wazir etc are classic examples. The interesting thing is that those terrorists who kill our innocent people are called by liberals on foreign television channels as “Mazahamti Group” (Resistance Groups).
A lot many NGOs, Human Right Commission, foreign intelligence agencies are part of this army bashing campaign. In this regard, in a recent report, Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) blamed that the government, military and LEAs of Pakistan are involved in elimination of Baloch people.
For the purpose of propaganda campaign against Pakistan’s security forces, these external elements have also hired the services of those Pakistanis who have sold out their souls and work against the national interest of their own country. These traitors have been meeting regularly during last three years in conference organized in London under aegis of South Asians against Terrorism & for Human Rights (SAATH). The moot has been termed by segment of social media as “Pakistani Left Gathers in London to Set Things Right”. It is co-hosted by a US-based activist Dr. Mohammad Taqi and Pakistan’s former ambassador Hussain Haqqani. Other prominent participants included ANP leaders Bushra Gohar, Afrasiab Khattak, MQM London leader Wasay Jalil, ex-diplomats-Wajid Shamsul Hassan, columnists and academicians-Rashed Rehman, Dr Ayesha Siddiqa, Marvi Sermad, Gul Bukhari and many others.
