The politicians who have making a heavy weather of failure of their no-confidence motion against the Senate chairman are no angels. In the same manner, the ruling party members too have a lot to live down That is the precise reason why the common man is not amused by the hullabaloo of the former over the issue. Didn’t those crying themselves hoarse over it also used to indulge in similar horse trading when they had been in the saddle? They should be, therefore, the last persons to raise their fingers in the matter. How can the pot call the kettle black?Horse trading is rampant in India also. In point of fact, leaders of most the under developed countries do indulge in it with rare abandon in order to remain in power as long as possible.
Many senators of Nawaz League , PPP and the JUI were in league with the PTI on the sly and the heads of these political parties are in the know as to who they were. Would the leadership of these parties muster enough courage and show them the door for getting rid of them?Legally speaking it would be difficult to establish the guilt of deserters because of the secrecy involved in the voting procedure so it would be well-nigh impossible to prove beyond reasonable doubt as to who voted for or against the senate chairman.
Granted that the horse trading does take place in the US and Britain too but this evil has spread its tentacles far and wide in the under-developed countries. What else can we expect from such persons who become senators by investing their money?
