LAHORE/ISLAMABAD August 8: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore office has arrested Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Yousuf Abbas Sharif in Chaudhary Sugar Mills case on Thursday. Both were arrested by NAB officials present in four vehicles outside the Kot Lakhpat Jail as Maryam and other family members came out after meeting former prime minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. Yousaf Abbas is the nephew of Nawaz Sharif.
Maryam Nawaz, Yousuf Abbad and Abdul Azizi Abbas were summoned by NAB Lahore on Thursday but they did not appear due to meeting with Nawaz Sharif in jail.
According to a notification of the anti-graft body issued from NAB Headquarters Islamabad, NAB stated that Maryam Nawaz and Yousaf Abbas had been arrested in connection with the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. The press release added that on the directives of NAB chairman a team of doctors would conduct a medical examination of Maryam Nawaz and Yousaf Abbas. Both will be presented before an accountability court, Lahore today (Friday).
NAB’s daycare centre has been declared sub-jail for Maryam Nawaz. NAB sources told that orders have been issued for the deployment of women personnel and NAB women staff in the sub-jail completely. It has also been decided to deploy Punjab women police for the security of the sub-jail. -Agencies
