Thank you Mr Prime Minister for at last navigating Pakistan’s Kashmir policy in the right direction. The bilateralism that has till recently characterized our approach towards the Kashmir issue was an unwanted consequence of Pakistan’s debacle in December 1971, that had led to the counterproductive Shimla Accord. In my humble opinion the cessation of East Pakistan was a lesser national tragedy than the ‘permanent shelving’ of the Kashmir issue. East Pakistan is Bangla Desh— a sovereign Muslim state despite Haseena Wajid. But Kashmir was made a hostage to India’s whims.
Shimla Accord was nothing but cold storage as far as Kashmir issue was concerned. We have kept retreating from our original position since then, and India has kept hardening its stance, till it recently acted in complete defiance of the International Law.
Imran Khan has rightly described the abolition of 370 article of the Indian Constitution as an act of huge miscalculation on the part of Modi. Unintentionally the Monster has unleashed the Kashmiri Will and the forces which create new history.
Never since ZAB spoke to the Nation as FM on September 01 1965, and President Ayub Khan on September 06, 1965, has a Pakistani leader spoken with such impassioned patriotism and dauntless sense of belonging to the Crescent as Imran Khan our PM did on August 26, 2019.
