Imran Khan has a point there when he says he apprehends that India would stage-manage some fake armed attack inside India and after laying the blame for it at the door of Pakistan would indulge in a military adventure against Pakistan. The recent statement of India that some terrorists have infiltrated into India through Afghanistan is a case in point which gives credence to Imran Khan’s above-mentioned apprehension. Can a pot call the kettle black? It is India which has been using the soil of Afghanistan and not Pakistan for engineering acts of sabotage inside Pakistan and this is being done right from day one in 1947 when Pakistan was created as an independent state on the world map. The very fact that Pakistan wants to fence Pak-Afghan border and Afghanistan doesn’t wax eloquent of the ill-designs of Kabul. It knows once the border line was fenced no cross border movement of the Afghan terrorists would be possible. It is not difficult to guess why Pakistan wants and Afghanistan doesn’t that there should be a close check on all types of movement on the Durand Line.
The consensus opinion among the inhabitants of this country is that the government should further cement ties with Beijing, mend fences with Moscow by removing all its misunderstandings about us and forge closer relationship with Iran and the Central Asian countries. The recent lukewarm reaction over a majority of Muslim countries against India over its atrocities on Kashmiri Muslims, has proved, if any proof was needed, that as far as common religion is concerned it occupies a back seat in their scheme of things. We shouldn’t give them a wide berth but we should also never bank too much on them.
