I have a point to make today. The issue of Kashmir has dominated the media this month, because of Modi’s sinister attempt through an illegal constitutional amendment to annex Kashmir to India. Quite naturally and clearly the people of Pakistan, including all the political parties of the country (with the exception of Malulnana Fazl ur Rehman’s) have stood behind the heroic protest launched by their Kashmiri brethren against the genocidal designs and Drauculian atrocities of Modi’s India. The people of Pakistan need no convincing on the part of Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi that our standpoint on the issue of Kashmir is just, honest and legitimate.
Yet our foreign minister instead of trying to address the world opinion and to make an organized effort to create a universal understanding of and sympathy with Pakistan’s commitment to history to get the issue of Kashmir resolved in the light of the United Nations Charter, and the Security Council resolutions, is spending all his energies on proving to his own country’s masses that he is a gifted orator, and a fluent articulator. His press conferences to the country’s Urdu-speaking media do add a lot to his image as a gifted public speaker, but in no way are helpful to the cause of Pakistan on the World stage.
He should be holding these press conferences in those Capitals of the World that matter – also in a language that is universally understood.
My dear sir, you are this country’s principal ambassador to the world. Talk to the audiences that need a lot of convincing. The people of Pakistan already know how right we are!
