Undoubtedly it is necessary for the Nations to show their contempt— even if symbolically— for all kinds of injustice and wrong-doing to them as well as to the rest of the mankind. Thus one should show solidarity with Prime Minister Imran Khan in his show of solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
But such symbolic acts are unlikely to have any impact on the behaviour of India’s present RSS-dominated leadership. Nor are such gestures of goodwill towards the oppressed and subjugated people of Kashmir going to awaken the conscience of the World. The world quite content in its harmonious relations with the globe’s second biggest country population-wise, will not mind Pakistan’s symbolic shows of contempt for the Indian atrocities which are now bordering around the acts of war against Pakistan.
The world believes Pakistan will never rise above Shah Mahmood Qureshi-style diplomacy— and will never match India’s outrageous acts. This belief of the world is in complete harmony with India’s comfort-level with the fiery rhetoric of Pakistan’s leadership. Words can never hurt your enemy. What will hurt India will be an act to match the act of India regarding Kashmir’s annexation. So far our foreign office is perfectly satisfied with telling the nation that “closure of air space to India is one of our options that can be exercised”. Quite clearly the other option—the option of earning ‘good-guy’ reputation is in vogue-
Wake up Pakistan.
India will come down on its knees once it is convinced Pakistan’s leaders can rise above their rhetoric.
