We are in the midst of Moharram. The law and order enforcing agencies are very rightly taking no chances and have made elaborate arrangements to pre-empt any attempt by the enemy’s agents to fan sectarianism during this month. Kalbhushan is behind the bars, no doubt, but his disciples are active , particularly in Balochistan where the Hazara community is being targeted by them off and on. The law and order enforcing forces with the help and coordination of the intelligence gathering forces have to root them out.
Time was when only places like DIKhan, Bhakkar, Parachinar, Mansehra, Jhang and an odd city in Sindh were known as sectarian districts where extraordinary security arrangements used to be made. These days the entire country needs similar tight security cover as threat of attempts to destabilise the entire country during Moharram exists.
Had the men of the cloth pulled their weight in ridding their ranks of the religious fanatics things would have been quite different today. It is an open secret that both Iran and Saudi Arabia have been bankrolling those religious sects in this country which take their cue from them in religious matters. Nobody really knows how much money they get from their Saudi and Irani almoners, how much out of it is actually spent on education in their seminaries and how much goes in the purchase of prohibited bore automatic weaponry and on the construction of their palatial residences. It is, therefore, essential if the government asks both Riyadh and Tehran not to pay them any cash and instead assist them through state bank of Pakistan so that the money received by them could be tracked and audited properly.
