- Imran Khan discusses bilateral ties, Kashmir crisis in meeting with Saudi Crown Prince
- Premier also condemned the week-end attack on oil infrastructure of Saudi Arabia’s Aramco
RIYADH, September 19: Prime Minister Imran Khan met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman here on Thursday.
Matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting.
The prime minister apprised the Saudi crown prince of the current situation in India-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The premier also condemned the weekend attack on oil infrastructure of Saudi’s Aramco.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Economy and Finance, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis Sayed Zulfi Bukhari, Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ijaz were also present in the meeting.
On arrival at royal terminal of Jeddah, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Governor of Makkah.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Khan arrived in Saudi Arabia on a two-day visit before heading to New York to attend the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During his stay in the kingdom, according to a statement put out by the Foreign Office, the prime minister will discuss with the Saudi leadership the various dimensions of the grave situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, arising from India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019. He has been in regular contact on the Kashmir issue with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman.
Since the visit to Pakistan by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman in February 2019, there is a growing momentum in Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations in all areas of cooperation, the statement read.
It said Pakistan-Saudi relations are traditionally marked by warmth and mutual trust.
FO spokesman Dr Faisal said that the premier has been in regular contact on the Kashmir issue with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The PM’s visit to Saudi Arabia will further reinforce the close fraternal ties between the two countries and deepen bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, it added.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan says Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Saudi Arabia will prove to be another milestone in promotion of bilateral cooperation in various sectors. In a series of tweets on Thursday, she said the visit is a reflection of a trusted brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, which will get further strengthened. The Special Assistant said the Prime Minister will have detailed discussion with the Saudi Crown Prince on the grave situation in occupied Kashmir.
She said taking a brotherly Islamic country and a key OIC member into confidence is tantamount to making voice of the oppressed Kashmiris strong. She said OIC openly expressed support for the Kashmiris. She said the Prime Minister will present the case of Kashmir to the UN General Assembly with the same force.
The Special Assistant said Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s visit to Pakistan further improved historical bilateral relations. She said the people of Pakistan have love and respect for the Saudi leadership. NNI
