There are wheels within wheels in Afghanistan’s administrative and political systems. The election system which elects president of the country is also very confusing and complex Sufficient time has lapsed since the presidential elections were held and its results are yet to be made public. It is now being said it won’t be able for the Election Commission to announce its result before 15 th November 2019. This delay in the announcement of the results is a source of worry for Russia, America, China and Pakistan which are necessary stake holders in the peace process of Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, hitherto a permanent solution of the conflict between the American-backed Afghan government and the Taliban is as elusive as it has always been. At the moment Russia, China, America and Pakistan are equally concernced about the prospects of peace and stability in Afghanistan. It is ironical that both Moscow and Washington which were equally responsible for letting loose a reign of terror in Afghanistan in furtherance of their respective political objectives are now trying to restore peace in that country in their efforts to make Taliban hit it off on a peace plan. Russia wants a peaceful Afghanistan which is its neighbour. Washington feels that if there was unrest in Afghanistan terrorists would again find a safe heaven in it. China and Pakistan also think that for the completion of gigantic China-added developmental projects in Pakistan , peace in Afghanistan is sine qua non.
POSTSCRIPT:When will Kabul mend its way and stop indulging in anti-Pakistan and anti-Muslim activities ?A case in point was the incidence that occurred in Kabul on 27 th October 2019 when some miscreants tried to forcibly block the entry of local persons who were invited by the Pakistani ambassador to Pak embassy to participate in a function arranged to condemn the Indian atrocities in Kashmir. When the ambassador complained to the local police it looked the other way.
