Peer Pressure

It’s just one puff bro we are all doing it. It’s not as bad as you think it’s a great stress reliever. Come on dont be such a Saint!!
Reluctantly the boy takes a puff of the joint and starts coughing at which the other 2 boys start laughing to prove himself a man the boy albiet his cough takes a longer hit and as the joint starts taking its effect you see another boy lost to peer pressure and societies set rules of what’s macho…
I saw this entire scene from the window above the alley and realized these kids couldn’t be more than 15 or 16 mere children but already fallen into the abyss of addiction and they won’t regret it till its too late.
Peer pressure might be the worst form of bullying if im being honest because unlike normal bullying where you know that the person is mean /rude or doing wrong with you here you aren’t aware of the damage because the people causing it are your friends and peers you look upto them they are your support system and because they are usually your age fellows their advice and suggestions hit closer to home than anyone else’s which is why you don’t see the harm. In skipping class or staying out late in playing games your parents won’t let you, making squads with people older than you which is why you tend to fall into these visicious habits that are impossible to break.
Peer pressure when done right can motivate you to do better in life but when done wrong like it commonly is because these kids things will if more of their friends start doing what they are then it will justify it that then it wouldn’t be WRONG which isnt the case is it?
You aren’t proving anything just taking down an entire group of people you call friends into the same blackhole you are in just to feel better about yourselves.
The end results of this are never good. Peer pressure is one of the biggest reasons why teens are so wayward and depressed nowadays.
The worst part is that the kids who realize this and try to stand against the group are the ones they add to a hit list and make their life miserable till they yeild to this trend.
What news channels report is how things ended and people stay discussing the victim their incompetent parents who didn’t pay attention to the child but if the roles were reversed the results would be similar. What we should be focusing on is why the other kids decided to pressure them what was going through their head to do this. Would they still do it if they knew the outcome possibly not but we can never know.
To stop this we should have counselor in school and residential areas the government should enforce regular check ups to avoids tragedies of a large scale.
