ISLAMABAD, December 15: The government has agreed to bring unanimous bill regarding National Accountability Bureau (NAB) while the government has agreed to curtail powers of the Chairman NAB as well.
The ministers have agreed in principle on the bill submitted by PPP Senator and former chairman senate Farooq Hameed Naik in senate.
According to a private TV channel, two federal ministers in their contact to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have agreed to bring a unanimous bill regarding the anti-graft body while the ministers also praised a bill presented by PPP Senator Farooq H. Naik in which amendments have been suggested to curtail of powers of the Chairman NAB. The government has asked the opposition to provide the draft of the Farooq H. Naik bill from the opposition so that a unanimous bill could be introduced after further amendments in the bill. Senate standing committee on law and justice has approved amendment bill in NAB Ordinance which suggested that power of arrest should be given to courts instead of Chairman NAB while reference should be filed on assets which were made illegally. – Sabah
