KARACHI, March 9: A local anti-terrorism court Wednesday formally charge-sheeted twenty six workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) arrested during 2015 raid of Rangers on the party headquarters, Nine Zero.
The accused were produced by authorities at an especial court in Karachi where they were a charge-sheet was presented against them; however, the accused pleaded not guilty.
According to our correspondent, the charge-sheet included various charges, including possession of arms and explosives. The accused are facing at least 50 different cases.
MQM’s Faisal Mota, Ubaid K2, Nadir Shah, Noman and Farhan Shabbir, who have been convicted in various cases, were also among those produced in the court. After the charge-sheeting, the judge adjourned the case till March 17, directing authorities to come up with evidences in the next hearing.
On March, 11, 2015, Rangers raided Nine Zero and Khurshid Begum Memorial Hall in Karachi’s Azizabad neighbourhood, arresting a number of party workers, including member of MQM’s Rabita Committee Amir Khan. The paramilitary troops, during the raid, recovered 124 weapons including LMGs, SMGs, M-4, G3s, repeaters and pistols. -DNA
