  • Says separate province or merger with KP, tribal people have to decide

PESHAWAR, December 23: Chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Wednesday demanded separate package for development projects in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). Talking at a ceremony held in Chief Minister House in Peshawar, Imran Khan assured to form a committee with the collaboration  of tribal parliamentarians for reforms in FATA.
Khan advised the authorities to launch development projects in FATA according to the locals’ requirement. He said that the projects should be in phases so that long-lasting outcomes can be achieved.
Showing solidity with tribal areas, PTI chief said that these areas have always been left alone and that no one has focused on their prosperity.
On the other hand, Member of National assembly (MNA) Shah Gull Afridi said that a particular group is against FATA reforms.
He said that some people of FATA still have reservations over government’s steps taken for progress of the region.
Earlier, Khan said that despite of recognizing errors in the local body polls Election Commission did not took any action against those responsible. He urged the people to vote for PTI to bring a change and also to expose Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) rigging that took place in General Elections 2013.
He reiterated that fair and transparent elections are not possible unless and until action is not taken against those associated with it. Addressing a tribal Jirga Imran Khan has said that the people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) will decide either they wanted a separate province or merger with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said that the PTI has started consultation and a committee has been formed to thrash out proposals to bring changes in FCR and other rules governing the FATA. He said that the PTI committee will put forward recommendation on the status of the FATA before the tribal people have a get together regarding the future status of the tribal area.
