The Aam Aadmi Party has worked wonders in Delhi as a result of which the electorate has once again put its faith in it by voting it into power in the Indian capital once again in the recent polls. The election result was a slap on the face of all major political parties of India as almost all of them got a thrashing at the hands of AAP at the hustings. What was so special in this party that endeared it to the man in the street?
It goes to its credit that the ruling AAP in New Delhi provided tremendous relief to the common in accordance with its manifesto. The inhabitants of New Delhi are being provided with water and electricity facilities almost gratis. In the budget, subsidies of RS 1720 and RS 468 billion respectively are being provided for electricity and water . A person using up to 200 units of electricity and 20 thousand litre of water monthly doesn’t get utility bill and if he uses these utilities in excess of these limits even then he is charged nominally . The women folk in New Delhi have been provided metro bus service free of charge in the Capital city . In the health sector government clinics have been opened in every mohalla . The same goes for education. These social welfare steps have won the hearts of the inhabitants of the Indian capital . Other political parties of India are apprehensive that the AAP might create a big dent into their vote bank in other Indian states also if it started extending its roots throughout India and this possibility cannot be ruled out altogether.
The question is :can’t Imran replicate the system of governance put into effect by the AAP in New Delhi in this country?
