PESHAWAR, March 11: In view of the differences between the people of Pattan and Palas over the issue of dividing Kohistan into two districts which was likely to create a law and order situation, Commissioner Hazara Division Muhammad Akbar Khan on Friday convened a Jirga of both the parts and took a unanimous decision that both the groups would remain peaceful and avoid creating problem. The Jirga also resolved that both the parties would neither interfere in the government activities nor make provocative speeches and hold press conferences to disturb the law and order situation. It may be mentioned here that some misunderstanding had cropped up among the people of Pattan and Palas over the court’s decision and proposed division of Kohistan into two districts thereby posing a threat to the law and order in the district.
In order to avert any eventuality, Commissioner Hazara Division convened a grand Jirga comprising people from both sides including members from Provincial and National Assemblies. After patiently hearing viewpoints of both sides the Commissioner said that we all have to work for prosperity and development of Kohistan instead of doing any such thing that would harm the interest of the district in any form.-PR
