ISLAMABAD, March 12: Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has said that the balance of political and economic power is shifting from the West to the East and in this scenario Pakistan due to its geo-strategic position can play an important role in the resurgence of Asia.
While addressing the 3rd workshop on human trafficking organised by the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in collaboration with four political parties of Pakistan including PML-N, Pakistan People’s Party , PTI and PML-Q.
Chairman Senate said that Islamabad has been given this opportunity to be host to a people who are tempted with struggle for democracy, rule of law, for equality before law and for strengthening democratic institutions and at the same time for taking a leap forward in the resurgence of the Asian dream.
He said that the international situation in particular is undergoing a tremendous change. It is experiencing change in terms of shifting of the centre of gravity of power, Senator Rabbani said.
He siad that power is gradually but surely coming back to Asia. He further stated that there is a certain amount of panic and resistance of the western world and in order to prevent this shift, we find various ploys being employed to try and divide the peoples and the countries of Asia. He said that there are attempts to destabilized political governments in Asia.
He emphasized that it is our historical responsibility to safeguard democratic traditions and democratic values in our countries. ICAPP, Raza Rabbani said, can play a very important role. He pointed out that today’s struggle has become internationalised. He said that it is now time for us to join hands for the betterment of our people, for the betterment of the downtrodden, for our working classes to utilize these resources and make Asia into a truly strong and vibrant continent.-Online
