President of Azerbaijan H.E. Ilham Aliyev is successfully pursuing the youth policy of national leader Heydar Aliyev to ensure the youth participation in the socio-economic development of the country and to this end, a series of steps have been taken by the sitting leadership.
This has been stated by the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Mr. Khazar Farhadov while addressing a seminar entitled ‘the youth policy of visionary leaders: Heydar Aliyev and Muhammad Ali Jinnah’ dedicated to the commemoration Day of Heydar Aliyev, National leader of Azerbaijan here at COMSATS University, Islamabad.
He said that our National leader Heydar Aliyev proved that he was a far-sighted and determined politician in 1969-1982, when he first led the country till that time, Azerbaijan was in a period of economic and cultural decline. With the first coming to power of the Great Leader, a period of rapid growth, development of national spirit and spiritual progress began in the country.
The Ambassador added that Youth policy always occupied a special place in the rich and magnificent state activity of the Great Leader. Back in the 70s and 80s of the last century, on the instructions of a wise leader, hundreds of young Azerbaijanis were sent to the leading universities of the former USSR, including Moscow, to study in various specialties. Suffice it to mention the fact that in 1970, on the initiative of Heydar Aliyev, more than 1,500 young Azerbaijanis were covered by this care. In 1970-1985, the number of Azerbaijani youth studying in 170 well-known higher education institutions of the Soviet Union reached 3,500. It was these young people who later began to work in our country as skilled personnel in various sectors of the economy as highly educated specialists. Every year, 800 students were sent abroad to study. Young people studied in St. Petersburg, Kiev, Kharkov and Minsk. As a result of the policy being pursued and the work done, we can say with full confidence that today the youth of Azerbaijan has gained an enviable reputation among the world’s youth with its intellectual, creative and spiritual-ideological maturity. The envoy made the mention of numerous steps taken by his country’s leadership for the well being, training ,education and thereby jobs for the youth as to enable it to serve the country in the best possible manners.
