LAHORE, December 14: Former Sri Lanka cricket captain and politician Arjuna Ranatunga on Tuesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan and commended his government for the diligent efforts to deliver justice to the barbaric, violent crime committed against Priyantha Kumara Diyawadanage.
In a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Ranatanga who has played international cricket with Imran Khan, pointed out the close ties between the two countries in both cricket and external affairs.
He also extended his gratitude to Imran Khan and his government for the support and commitment shown towards Priyantha Diyawadana’s family. “As you have reiterated in the media, such violent, vigilante behavior should be strongly condemned. It is important to understand that these acts are carried out by a small section of the population, and that a whole nation should not be judged on the actions of a few, especially considering the longstanding relationship between our two nations,” he wrote.
The former captain said that whether it is cricket or politics, you have always been unshakable in facing challenges, adding that ever since you became the Prime Minister of Pakistan, you have been carefully resolving the country s contentious issues.
“I hope you will be able to teach a few misguided members within the Pakistani community to treat everyone with the same respect and dignity that all human beings deserve,” he wrote.-DNA
