The government shouldn’t take the rallies of those local people in Gwadar lightly who are demanding a fair share for themselves in the developmental projects. Priority needs to be given to them by providing them employment in the various projects being executed there under the CPEC.We have to create their stakes and vested interest in these projects, ASAP, otherwise, the element which wants to destabilize this country is going to exploit them.Once we have involved the local population in the Gwadar’s development we can tell the detractors of this project to get knotted.
While merging former FATA with the KPK due consideration wasn’t given to the following questions. How will the government enforce Arms Act there which,no doubt,is applicable there but has never been implemented? Before its merger, the day-today administration in the erstwhile FATA used to be run under the concept of collective tribal territorial responsibility under which elders of every tribe were answerable for maintenance of law and order to the political agent who represented the government. What made the government think that once the tribal chieftains were absolved of this age old responsibility, the police would be able to deliver the goods? The entire FATA is flooded with latest weaponry galore. If the government cannot cleanse the settled area of prohibited bore weapons, how come will it be able to implement Arms Act in the inhospitable rugged terrain of FATA?
