Beijing: Chairman of China Highway Engineering Consulting Corporation (CHECC) Cui Yuping said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor fetched trade opportunities, improve infrastructure, and enhanced people-to-people relationships between two countries.
A high-level Pakistani delegation led by the Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Moin ul Haque visited the headquarter of China Highway Engineering Consulting Corporation (CHECC) on Friday and discussed further cooperation in different fields including road & highways, bridges, industrial parks, transportation, and housing sectors.
Chairman Cui Yuping said that housing is the much need sector in Pakistan and CHECC is willing to invest in this sector besides infrastructure and roads & highways. “The concept of the smart city is very popular and in future, we’re looking more into a smart highway and also making more sustainable and ensure the quality of the overall project”, Cui Yuping added. She said that CPEC is an important project of the Belt and Road Initiative, her company not only looking for the improvement of infrastructure collaboration but also will create more jobs for the local people.
“Employment is a major issue but by making roads and highway, housing and other activities we can hire local people and we also hope to train the locals in that way to help to create more job opportunities”, she said.
The Chairman said that China constructed roads first even interconnection between villages and small cities are a very important component to help poverty alleviation because without roads food supplies or any other supply couldn’t be transported and she hopes that Pakistan will learn from Chinese lessons and improve its infrastructure.
“We make sure that every single village could be connected, as well as every single county must be connected for that Chinese government put a lot of efforts that is the major component of poverty alleviation”, she mentioned.
“We are willing to help Pakistani people by providing welfare work that improves the quality of life and we would like to open vocational schools in Pakistan” Currently, CHECC has completed Karakoram Highway (KKH) Phase-II (Havelian-Thakot) project and the chairman said that KKH-Phase-2 is the symbol of friendships smart work, and success
CHECC has been engaged in business in Pakistan for more than 10 years, has undertaken 5 projects in Pakistan, including planning, consulting, design, electromechanical engineering construction, and supervision services.
Pakistan KKH Barrier Lake Rerouting Project is the only road channel between China and Pakistan, and also the only road channel out of northern Pakistan, with a total length of 1032km, including 416km in China and 616km in Pakistan.
The rerouting project is 24km long. CHECC undertakes the project supervision service, the electromechanical engineering construction, and housing construction of five tunnels along the line.
The project was officially started on July 26, 2012, and opened to traffic on September 3, 2015. And on November 28, 2016, CHECC received the performance certificate issued by Pakistan National Highway Authority; the project passed the final acceptance successfully.
CHECC undertakes the project supervision service, the design, and construction of intelligent transportation system (ITS) engineering, and the electromechanical engineering construction of 6 tunnels (2 double tunnel tunnels in high-speed section and 4 single tunnel tunnels in secondary road section). The project was officially started in September 2016 and completed and opened to traffic in February 2020.
Pakistan Hattar Special Economic Zone Project is a key project under the framework of China Pakistan Economic Corridor industry and park cooperation.
