As measures keep rolling out to ensure people get jobs, more policies are needed to cope with the COVID-19 impact. Employment bears the brunt of the downward pressure on the economy, said Lian Ping, chief economist at Zhixin Investment Research Institute, noting that it is crucial to give priority to employment in economic and social development as well as macro policies.
The country’s job market continued to pick up in 2021 with the further recovery of China’s economy and enterprises up on their feet.
China’s surveyed urban unemployment rate stood at 5 percent in November, 0.2 percentage points lower than the same period last year, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed. – Xinhua
