ISLAMABAD, December 26: Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced to convene a meeting of National Security Council (NSC) tomorrow (Monday) to discuss the current situation owing to Afghanistan and national security of the country.
According to the sources, PM will be briefed about NSC’s latest progress. The meeting will be attended by the senior ministers and military leadership of Pakistan. Meanwhile, Minister of Interior Sheikh Rashid, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry and National Security Adviser Moeed Yousaf will also be present in the session.
Earlier in December, Fawad Chaudhry Hussain had said that the opposition’s decision to boycott the meeting of Parliamentary Committee on National Security is regrettable. In a tweet, he said it is for the first time in seven decades that a government is going to present its security policy before the parliament. The minister had said it was not a political issue, but a national security matter. He urged the opposition to review its decision and participate in the meeting. The reaction came after opposition parties announced to boycott the in-camera session of the parliamentary committee on national security to discuss the security situation in the region. – DNA
