Between the devil & the deep sea

Pakistan is caught up between the Devil and the Deep Sea. On the one hand are all kinds of home-grown terrorists who have their roots in all kinds of crime—ranging from target-killing to abduction for ransom, to extortion under threat, to illegal occupation of land, to organized drug trade, to patronization of all sorts of Mafia-like criminal gangs……
On the other hand are well-trained outfits of militants with different agendas—some with religious labels and some with paid-for political loyalties—all competing for high honours in raining death destruction and fear on the Society.
On yet another hand, there are battalions of well-paid and well-looked-after merchants of ideas who are virtually growing hoarse— crying for an all-out war on all kinds of beards—that may remind one of the Taliban.
The Taliban! Of countless brands, varieties and species—most of whom are driven by the power of money. Money that keeps coming under their belt from Washington, from New Delhi and from Mossad!
