ISLAMABAD, December 28: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) will take up a request of Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) tomorrow (Wednesday) seeking raise in electricity tariff by Rs4.33 per unit.
The CPPA had already submitted its request in connection with monthly fuel adjustment charges for November 2021. According to the CPPA, 33.21 percent of electricity was generated from water in November, 16.26 percent from coal, 1.71 percent from furnace oil and 0.29 percent from high-speed diesel.
The electricity generated from diesel in November was the most expensive at Rs27.20 per unit and the same was the case for electricity generated from furnace oil. Electricity produced from gas in November was 12.89 percent and from LNG was 14.25 percent.
The electricity rate was enhanced by Rs4.74 per unit in connection with monthly fuel adjustment charges for October 2021. The federal government has decided to divide three power distribution companies of the country. Power distribution companies of Peshawar, Multan and Quetta will be split owing to their expansion by hundreds of kilometres covering huge areas. A five-member committee to be led by the federal energy minister has been set up for the purpose. – TLTP
