PESHAWAR, January 2: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Faisal Amin Khan Gandapur visited historical Sethi House, MohallaSethian and Gurghatri Fort inside the walled city of Peshawar. He saw different parts of this historical heritage and got acquainted with its historical and cultural significance.
Director Archeology Dr. Abdul Samad and Waqar Ali Khan also accompanied him on this occasion.
The provincial minister expressed special interest in the old fire brigade vehicle parked in the parking lot of Gurghatri Fort which has been restored to its original condition and color. He also visited Sethi House which is located in SethiMohalla between the historical places of Ghantaghar and GorGhattri fort.
Faisal Amin Gandapur highly commended Archaeological Department for excellent care of this historical heritage. He said that the living nations have always kept their history and cultural heritage alive and this department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is performing its duty in this regard in a dignified manner for which it deserved all the appreciation.
Faisal Amin Gandapur said that he himself is an international tourist. He has been visiting more than 80 countries many times since his student life days and hence he is a student of world history and culture in this regard.
“I claim with full confidence that if the touristic and historical sites spread in nook and corner of Pakistan especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are properly exposed to the world then this whole region can become attractive for international tourism”, he asserted.
However, after the eradication of terrorism, the prospects of the arrival of tourists becomes internationally brighter, thanks to which Pakistan can earn a lot of foreign exchange and bring prosperity to the people.
The Director Archeology told the Provincial Minister that there are seven historical South Asian mansions in MohallaSethian which were built by the Sethi family who played a key role in the economic stability of Peshawar. The buildings are built with elaborate wooden carvings, reminiscent of the ancient culture of Central Asia. The houses were completed at the end of 19th century and these invaluable heritages have been restored to their original condition by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Archeology with utmost beauty and skill as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The Minister acknowledged that the efforts of Director Archeology Dr. Abdul Samad in restoring the historical and cultural heritage of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will always be remembered.-PR
