Eid Miladun Nabi (SAWW) celebrated across the country with religious fervour

KARACHI, December 24: Eid Milad-un-Nabi was celebrated with religious fervour across the country on Thursday.
The day, celebrated on 12th of Rabiul Awal, marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The day commenced with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital while 21-gun salutes given in all other provincial capitals.
A number of religious processions and rallies were held in different cities of the country to commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) while a number of Milad gatherings were also held across the country.
Numerous mosques and government buildings were illuminated with decorative lighting while security was put on high alert in order to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion.
More than 28,000 policemen were deployed in Karachi to provide security to the rallies and processions. Commandos of the Rapid Response Force, Special Security Unit, Sindh Reserve Police, Anti-Encroachment Cell and Crime Branch were deployed on security duties for nearly 1,115 programmes relating to the celebrations of Rabiul Awwal 12 and 515 processions and rallies in the metropolis.
Apart from these, policemen in nearly 571 police mobiles and on 574 motorcycles also performed security duty. The SHOs of the relevant police stations were asked to conduct extra patrolling and routine checking in their respective areas.
Buildings, houses and shops, which were located on the routes of the main processions, were scrutinised for security purpose.
Meanwhile, administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi had made elaborate security arrangements for Eid Miladun Nabi celebrations. As part of the security arrangement, leaves of Rescue 1122 officials and police were cancelled ahead of Eid Milad and Christmas that fall on consecutive days. Different religious, social, cultural and educational organizations organised programmes like Mahafil of Naat Khawani, Seerat conferences and Milad processions to mark the day. Mosques, streets, plazas, roads, bazaars, markets, government buildings and houses were decorated with lights and flags on the occasion.
