PESHAWAR, March 14: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan has said that IT education is the basic need of every sector in this modern era but its importance in education sector is far more than other sectors, therefore, the KP government is striving hard to increase the use of IT manifold in education sector.
He expressed these views, while talking to participants of PTCL team in a meeting at Peshawar on Monday. The meeting discussed the establishment of 500 IT Labs in government schools of the province, while it also reviewed the use of services of PTCL in this regard.
Besides others the meeting was attended by Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Afzal Latif and other concerned. The provincial education minister said that the better use of IT expertise in education sector would bring visible change in education system, ensure the attendance of teachers and students, being a major problem of government schools. Atif Khan said to give pen in the hands of every child of the province was the mission of PTI government and for the purpose, the government had evolved a survey programme to go to each and every house to ascertain the real number of children not willing to go to schools. He said short, medium and long term steps were being introduced to improve education sector on emergent basis adding that serious efforts were being taken to introduce digital literacy and in this regard agreements were being finalized with IT companies. He further said that from the new academic year, 500 IT Labs would formally be initiated and in this conncection, he said PTI chairman Imran Khan and CM KPK Pervez Khattak were taking keen interest and they time and again, keep themselves apprise of the steps taken in this regard. There was no scarcity of funds for education sector, therefore, no excuse would be accepted in delaying the schemes of education sector, the minister education Muhammad Atif Khan concluded.-PR
