Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic Ibragim Djunusov, who is completing his diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the current state and prospects for further deepening the multifaceted Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation were discussed, and further actions were outlined to promote joint projects and initiatives. It was noted that following the visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2021, relations between the two countries acquired a special dynamic. During the visit, bilateral events were held, including a meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and a meeting of the Council of Khokims of the border regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan and authorized representatives of the government of the Kyrgyz Republic in the border regions. The success achieved in the trade and economic sphere was especially emphasized: for example, over the past three years, the volume of trade between the two states has grown by 16 percent, approaching the mark of US$1 billion. A lot of work has been done to create favorable conditions for the development of border trade and the full use of the logistics and transit potential of the two countries.
