ISLAMABAD, January 24: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Pakistan wants to work with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to further strengthen bilateral relations, enhance cooperation at multilateral fora and continue close coordination on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
The prime minister expressed these view during a a telephonic conversation with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Forces Mohamed Bin Zayed on Monday.
The crown prince telephoned the prime minister and offered deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the Lahore blast of January 22. He strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Lahore which claimed three lives and left several injured. He expressed solidarity with the leadership, government and people of Pakistan. He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The prime minister thanked the crown prince for his condolences and strong expression of support. He expressed Pakistan’s firm resolve to fight terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, saying that the perpetrators of terrorist attacks would be brought to justice.
Frequent and cordial interaction between the leaderships of the two countries is a hallmark of fraternal ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
The two leaders talked at a time when the UAE intercepted and destroyed two Houthi ballistic missiles targeting the Gulf country on Monday with no casualties, its defence ministry said, following a deadly attack a week earlier. For more than six years, Yemen’s Houthis have been battling a Saudi-led coalition that includes the UAE, repeatedly carrying out cross-border missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia, and launching an unprecedented assault on the UAE on January 17.
