Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have agreed on a complete ceasefire on the border, the press service of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Following the results of the negotiations of governor of Batken Oblast Abdikarim Alimbaev, the border representative for the Batken direction Kyialbek Tolonbaev and the heads of security and law enforcement agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic with governor of Sughd Oblast of Tajikistan Rajabba Ahmadzoda, the border representative and representatives of law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan, the following agreements were reached:
– a complete ceasefire;
– on the withdrawal of each of the parties of additional forces and means, drawn up to the border, to the places of permanent deployment;
– on the opening of traffic on the Batken-Isfana road;
– on joint patrolling of law enforcement officers of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in border areas in order to prevent conflicts.
Delegations of the two countries arrived in the Tort-Kocho area, where the incident began. Traffic along the Batken-Isfana highway is carried out without hindrance, the report said.
On January 27, from 17:30 to 18:00, Tajik border guards unilaterally blocked a section of the Batken-Isfana road in the area of ??Tort-Kocho in Batken region of Kyrgyzstan.
As a result of negotiations, at 19:30 the road section was reopened for traffic.
