It is not understandable that instead of recognising the Taliban government in Afghanistan, why Washington has been distancing itself from it without any cogent rhyme and reason The US closed down Afghanistan’s embassy in Washington the other day which was certainly a very retrogressive political step and it would deteriorate America’s relation with Kabul instead of improving it. After the exit of Ashraf Ghani from power the U.S could have won over the heart and soul of Afghan people U.S had a golden chance to mend fences with the Afghan people but it seems that that it had lost its marbles The US could have won the heart and soul of Afghan people in case it had invested heavily in the broken infrastructure of Afghanistan after the exit of the Soviet Union but that opportunity was also lost by it.
