RAHIM YAR KHAN, January 28: Inter-University Badminton Championship (Men) started in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports KhwajaFareed University of Engineering and Information Technology. Players from eight universities of Punjab Zone E are participating in the three-day competition. This is the first championship of its kind in Rahim Yar Khan in which prominent universities across the province including Superior University Lahore, GC University Faisal Abad, Agriculture University Faisal Abad, MNS University Multan, BahauddinZakaria University Multan, Islamia University Bahawalpur, National Textile University and KFUEIT are participating. The championship was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suleman Tahir.
Chief Engineer Irrigation Bahawalpur Khalid Bashir, Col (retd) AbidDastgir, District Sports Officers, Heads of various departments, Faculty members and a large number of players were present on the occasion. During the event, athletes also showed their skills in Taekwondo and Martial Arts. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suleman Tahir said that Khawaja Farid University is making significant strides in the field of education and is also taking all possible measures for the promotion of sports and healthy activities. He said it is an honor to be a sportsman. KFUEIT is providing scholarships to the students who are willing to participate in sports.
He further said that sports and education should be taken together in a balanced way. Winning or losing is part of the game; it teaches people to cope with the ups and downs of life and the importance of teamwork.-PR
