In pursuance of the Presidential Decree “On Declaring 2022 the Year of Mountain Ecosystems Protection and Climate Sustainability”, the relevant Action Plan of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan is being developed. Earlier, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York, put forward an initiative to declare 2022 the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development. On Dec. 16, 2021, the UN General Assembly unanimously supported this initiative by adopting a resolution on declaring 2022 the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development. Azamat Temi rkulov, the head of the Department of Reform Monitoring and Analysis of the Kyrgyz President’s Office said that the climate on Earth is changing, which is recognized by the United Nations as one of the main challenges of the present time.
