ISLAMABAD, February 17: Finance Minister ShaukatTarin has assured Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association (PPMA) that all its reservations, including refund of sales tax, will be resolved at the earliest time possible.
The finance minister held a meeting with a delegation of PPMA headed by its chairman Qazi M. MansoorDilawar on Thursday.
Tarin commended the contribution of pharmaceutical manufacturers. It was accredited that this sector has a substantial role in the economic development of the country.
He assured that all issues of PPMA will be resolved soon. The finance minister directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to carry out all possible measures for settlement of the issues of the pharmaceutical industry.
Earlier, the PPMA chairman shared the problems being faced by the pharmaceutical manufacturers, particularly the concerns pertaining to refund of sales tax. These unresolved matters result in unnecessary delays and thus impact overall working efficiency of PPMA, he said. Furthermore, they requested for the resolution of the mentioned issues. The PPMA delegation thanked the finance minister for ensuring the full support for resolution of their issues.
Meanwhile, ShaukatTarin has said that inflation is a big challenge for the incumbent government which will be controlled in coming few months.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that prices of essential commodities have increased at global level due to Covid-19 pandemic. He said the government is focused on countering inflation by increasing the income of the salaried class and lower middle class as well. – DNA
